Actively involved in contract negotiations between the Fire Dept. and the City.
Boulder History: We bought land in Lower Boulder eight years ago with the intention of eventually settling here upon retirement from the fire service. Each year we were able to spend more and more time, building a house, a barn, re-planting the hay field, and most importantly getting to know the town and people better. Five years ago we sold our home in California, choosing to rent until retirement so that we could put the money into the ranch. I was recently honored to join the Boulder Fire Dept. as Asst. Chief, and am enjoying working with a great group of dedicated volunteers to grow the department in terms of equipment, training, and community involvement, with the short-term emphasis the improvement of our ISO Fire Rating. My wife Cookie and I are active members of the Friends of the Boulder Library. Our volunteering has given us the opportunity to meet many of the local kids, parents, and grandparents, as well as hearing the great local stories that were recounted at the recent Open House. I believe very strongly in the town of Boulder – the natural beauty, the small-town atmosphere, the friendliness, and the traditional agricultural and ranching heritage which has attracted those of us who came along later. I would not like to see this change. Careful planning, which should reflect the ideas and desires of the majority of the community, is imperative in making sure that Boulder remains the place we all love. It would be a tragedy if the town’s future were left to the whims of outside investment. I would welcome questions either by phone: 335-7318, email: petecook@got.net, or wherever you might see me.
